Julie and Julia.

Some of our best folks from ye olde hometown have been up this week, staying with us.  Today we felt lazy so we walked around in sweatpants and unkempt hair and decided to watch Julie and Julia.

julie_and_juliamovieposterI wanted to see this movie, but I wasn’t pumped about it or anything.  Saying that, I really liked the movie much much more than I expected I would.  I really like the Julia Child part of the story.  She tells you to search yourself, find something you really like, and pursue it.  Become good at it, have fun with it, just give yourself the chance to do it.

I’m pretty sure I have watched her A & E biography before, because I knew alot of little facts about her and didn’t know why.  Some of those facts were about her relationship with her husband.  He adored her to pieces!  Stanley Tucci played the hubby and was adorable.

julieandjuliatucciThe scene for Julies, the blogger, 30th birthday is fun times.  They have a theme party.  Can you guess the little theme?  Julia Child.  They wear little Julia -ish hats and she dresses as Julia and cooks her lobster and it looks like so much fun!  I’m going to have one of these parties one day.

Major Let Down.

halloween-2-new-teaserThe husband and I went to see H2 and I gotta say, it totally sucked.  I am a Rob Zombie fan, and loved his version of Halloween, so I was quite excited to see the film.  I enjoyed his Halloween and was hoping for more of the same.  The husband, however, did not much like Rob Zombie’s Halloween and had no desire at all to see his sequel.  The movie had no real story line, nothing but kill, and too much shaky cam.  There were even a couple of deaths where we went…..well that just wasnt neccesary.  The film seems like it was thrown into editing and hastily thrown back out, making it seem oddly fragmented.  It seems as if Zombie was really inspired when he made the first one, but not the sequel.  I’m begging him right now on this blog, PLEASE DONT MAKE ANOTHER HALLOWEEN!!!!  Save yourself.

I also liked the young Michael Myers from the first one better.

michaelmyers2Whatevs, little boys hit puberty I guess I can deal.

P.S.  I almost forgot to share with you guys, when we entered the theater there were eight people, including us.  By the end credits we were all by our lonesome.  When is the last time everyone but you left the theater people?

Funny People

funny-people-posterWe saw Funny People today and loved it.  I am a bit biased though, because of my love for everything Judd Apatow.  I have heard mixed reviews, but most of the negative have been either “its a long movie” or “it wasn’t as funny as I thought it was going to be”.  I expected a dramedy, and this movie is only 13 minutes longer than the unrated versions of Knocked Up and The 40 Year Old Virgin.  While there are plenty of laughs, its not the usual brand of Apatow comfort food, the subject matter is a bit more substantial.  The soundtrack was downloaded not long after we got home.  The music is so chill, perfect for a relaxing drive or a day of running errands with only your ipod by your side.

While you’re at it check out the album Strange Weirdos: Music From and Inspired by Knocked Up
