Jacquelyn Jackson Photography.

Just posted a clients gallery – their wedding pictures!  I know they’re excited but so am I.  Its exciting after I load up memory card after memory card of pictures from a wedding to sift through them that first time.  After editing and a couple of more rounds of sorting – they are finally ready to organize and load to view.  All that in between is WORK!  It seems to take forever and is so exciting at the end, because I know I’m going to be able to make someone else excited.

I am also most anxious to edit the detail shots and the girls getting ready.  I’m going to share a few of the details from the wedding I posted tonight with you guys.

Lady List

Kat posted a list of 10 pieces of clothing every lady should have – and it really resonated with me.  I used to be all about quantity over quality – but as of late I’ve been in the quality of quantity headspace.  I guess it comes with age.  I’m not so interested in buying a lot of cheap trendy pieces – I’d rather have classic high quality pieces that will last.  But sometimes its still hard to think about spending two and three hundred dollars on one piece.  I found pieces to put on my wishlist so I can have the ten pieces of clothing every lady should have.

1. A Trench

I’ve been gazing at this JCrew one for awhile.  Its beautiful – its also one of those three hundred dollar pieces I was talking about before.

There is a more affordable version at American Eagle.  I don’t tend to shop “juniors” but this one looks nice and is a lot cheaper at $70.  Of course you pay for what you get so the JCrew trench will surely last a LOT longer.  And is prettier.

2. Knee High Boots.

I already have these!  Borns – a xmas present from the hubby a couple of years ago.  These are them -except mine are brown.

3. Basic Black Dress.

Believe it or not I do not have this.  WHAAAA?!

Here is one from Target – everyones favorite place. $40.  Very Hepburn.

and this one from JCrew.  yet another $300

Also -$80 Ann Taylor Loft Shift Dress I think this one is actually my fave go look!

4. Heels.

Of course I have heels, but I prefer platform wedges.  If i get heels its best for me to get kitten or stacked.  But I need an update.  I have one pair of white – the ones I wore with my wedding dress.  The pair of leopard print you guys saw a few posts back.  one pair of black that I dont like anymore but have kept in case I NEED a pair.  I need a pair of black and a pair of brown that I will actually wear to make a basic wardrobe.

Here is a nice kitten metallic from BCBG

Brown stacked from Gianni Bini.

Seychelle Password Pumps

5. Loafers
Frye

6. Blazer

I have a navy pinstripe JCrew outlet Blazer as of right now.

7. Oxford Button Up.

I have these – I love to wear collard shirts so these are a fave of mine.

8. Boots.

I like these Born boots – a little embellishment a little built in worn – ness.

Or these black suede MIA

9. Lacey Underthings.

Black from American Apparel

Black from UO

Floral and black undies from Asos

10. Pencil Skirt.

JCREW!  Pencil skirt in nightfall blue.

Well, folks, thats the lady list!

12 Months Of 2010.

I decided I’d post a random picture I took from each month of this past year for you guys to see.

January – a view of our fridge.

Feb- I made a peach cobbler.  But first photographed the peaches in the beautiful evening light.

March – Scored this awesome mason jar at a local antique shop.  I was trying to find something to package some thank you muffins for a friend.

April – I received my new business cards.

May – I made this of The Husband, Klaus, and I for my custom iPhone case.

June – I didn’t take ANY pictures because I was so busy editing weddings and making promotional stuff and getting ready for a wedding expo.

July –  The Husband preesrved some things – peppers and the like.

August- Klaus lounged in “his” chair.

September – Yet again, busy editing weddings.  This is one of them.

October – Klaus was caught lounging in “his” chair again.

November – Again busy editing weddings and engagements.

December – A side table in our living room.

And that is a peek into the randomness of 2010.

Help Me!

So, we are trying to finish getting our shiz together for our booth in our first bridal expo coming in August.  I need a little help with this one decision.

I feel like I should explain to you guys who I am marketing towards before you help me out.  I love working with a younger, more modern crowd.  A crowd with a little edge and their own creativity.  So no big bows and tulle for moi.

So, on the wall behind my table I am going to  display some of my work mounted onto styrene and matboard.  I am having a bit of trouble deciding on what to you use to display them on.  These are the three options I have been mulling over.

Aluminum Sheeting.

Chain Link.

Chicken Wire.

boothchickenwireWhat do you guys think.

As you can tell, I’m going for metal.  If you have any ideas that you feel are better you certainly can share those too…but I do love my metal.

Overwhelmed And Hopeful.

1fortunecofashionchalet

When I stumbled across this image over on Fashion Chalet, it fit perfectly in with my life right now.  I have been feeling very overwhelmed…yet excited about my blooming photography business.  People have been having more interest in me, and that is exciting!  But I’ve been SO busy.  I’m not yet comfortable enough to leave my “day job”, so working there full time and doing what I love full time has kept me working through all of my waking hours.  But I can’t help but know deep inside that this will all pay off one day.  Hopefully one day very very soon.  I am about to start another venture starting August….a pretty exciting one, that involves the words freelance and photography.  But that’ll be a post for another day.

Back From The Beach.

We went on a little trip this past weekend.  We (Jacquelyn Jackson Photography) had a wedding to shoot in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  We left friday so we could be there for the rehearsal.  I prefer to be there just so I can be extra prepared on the wedding day.  My mom and step dad live in Gulf Shores so we didn’t have to pay for a hotel or condo – we just stayed with them!  Klaus loves to stay with them so he can play with their dog, Bailey.  The car ride there didn’t seem too bad.  When we go on road trips we have this little deal.  We listen to my music half the trip and for the other half we listen to podcasts of Lex and Terrys radio morning show.  We used to get them in our hometown, but they aren’t in our current town so The Husband downloads all of their shows and listens to them.  They are hysterical and the only morning radio show I would ever listen to.

And yes people, there was oil on the beaches and you could smell it in the air.  It smelled like someone was burning tires.  Here is my mom trying to “catch” oil.

gulfshores10I stole these pictures from a friend of mine who was also staying in Gulf Shores this past weekend.

Due to the oil and rain the on the beach wedding ended up having to be moved to an indoor plan B venue.  I so wanted to shoot some white sand!

In between editing pictures from our last wedding and getting ready for this weekends wedding we HAD to get some good eats in right?

For lunch?   DOCS!  Its where the locals go…so much better than some touristy place.

My favorite thing on the menu?  Fried stuffed crab, grilled shrimp, and hushpuppies of course!

On to the wedding…

And after the wedding?  Late night pizza dinner from Papa Roccos!  My uncle D used to work there many a moon ago.

paparoccosAlas, the trip/visit was over.  We were on our way back home.  We did make a stop to pick up the sister in law.  Shes going to stay with us for a couple of weeks.  The Husband starts is prelims today for entry into the PHD program, so he was studying the whole weekend..and even the car ride home.  He was glad his sister was there in the car to go over flash cards with him – she knows the math jargon.  Me…not so much.

And that concludes our broadcast this morning.
