The 20 Something Society

We're going to make it after all.

My sister-in-law is staying at our place this weekend, so tonight we decided to light up the fire pit and roast some hot dogs and then smores for dessert.  This is one of my absolute favorite things to do, Todd got me the fire pit for my birthday last year.  I don’t care what hot dogs are made out of, they are one of my personal comfort junk foods.  Growing up one of my uncles called me ‘Hot Dog’ as a nickname because that is all I ever wanted to eat.  We had fun, sister-in-law had NEVER ROASTED A HOT DOG over an open flame before.  I was like…what?  She can say that no longer.

And here I am with the goofiest hobo hair ever.  I’ll blame it on the wind blowing.

Klaus chilling at his Aunties feet, and then saying “UGH” because the smoke monster was coming for him.

The Chair.

This chair has been passed around my family for a long time now.  Its pretty shabby looking – but really all it needs is a good re-upholstering.  Though I do love the old green velvety fabric.  BUT, since Klaus outgrew his little baby puppydom, this has been his favorite spot to sit, so I didnt see any point in recovering it at the present time.  He got up to wander about for a bit today and I couldn’t help but look at the empty chair with his blankie on the arm and think how sad it looked without Klaus in it.

It didn’t stay that way for long.

Two of my favorites came up from the hometown to keep me company this weekend – Jenny and Maria!  Well, really mostly Saturday!  They arrived late Friday and left Sunday.  So we jam packed our Saturday.

Went shopping and heard from Maria that we “weren’t making her very happy right now..”

We ate some yummy food including Marias first calamari!

Got in plenty of cuddle time with Klaus.

I took some mother/daughter portraits.  We were supposed to do some during Christmas when we down but the weather was icky.  So when we figured out they were coming up for a visit we wanted to take them then, and sure enough the weather was icky again!  I wasnt goign to let that hold us back again – I picked a location that would work with rain and we went out and had some fun.  I can’t wait to really dig into their images.

Watched scary movies and ate popcorn with chocolate for dinner.

No, Maria would not care for Fargo.  It is out because I was watching it before they arrived Friday night!

After watching the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake I think Maria was little scared because she asked to watch a funny  movie.  After doing some Amazon Prime browsing we settled on dancing around to the Footloose remake.

Good times.

Baby Blanket.

Klaus has this new thing that I’ve been telling everyone about because I think it is so cute.

It all started with him being sick though.  He had some sort of doggie cold or something, and he was shivering pretty bad, so I put a blankie over him (and honestly put a heating pad on low also).  Ever since then, he’s become attached to his blankie!  He won’t go to bed without it!  I’ve been tucking him in so he doesn’t get cold at night.  He IS a short haired dog.  One night I forgot and left the blankie draped over the arm of his bed (he usually sleeps in his chair).  When I told him it was time for bed he looked at me like I was nuts, walked over to his blankie and started pawing at it and looking at me.  I hadn’t known that he had become attached until then!  Now he snuggles with it too when he naps.

Rotten.

Klaus.

I stumbled upon this picture of Klaus from last year.  September 2011 to be exact.  Thought I’d stick it here so you guys could the cutest most spoiled little boxer in the land.  We are watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer together as I type.

Spring.

It’s about that time.  Time to get the garden box back together.  It looks like a dry wintery wasteland at the moment.  Todd went out to do some weeding last weekend and Klaus decided he wanted to help.

I have to say that I LOVE the middle image of Klaus in this next set.  He looks so happy just soaking up the bright sun.

Spring it coming!  I am so over the cold and snow and cannot wait.

This past weekend we opened all of the windows to let the fresh air in AND my rosemary bush got to go outside!

Many of you know our puppy by now – Klaus!

Well, this holiday season we have taken to calling him Santa Klaus.  (for those of you that don’t know how to pronounce Klaus – like much of The Husbands family and 99% of the people at our vets office – even though they have all HEARD us say it a million times – it is like when you’re saying clown think klow-s not klaws). We paint him as kind of a menacing Santa Klaus.  Always watching and judging.  You better watch out…you better not cry…you better not pout I’m telling you why…because Santa Klaus will get you.

We decided to take a last minute trip to the pet store today to purchase Santa Klaus a Santa hat – but alas they had none.  I did however find a couple of things I would like to purchase him from Etsy though.

Here – the Christmas bowtie! From Etsy seller sillybuddy.

And a knit santa hat from Etsy seller anywear!

I’m sure a good time was had by all.  We hosted Thanksgiving this year (for the first time) – had the sis in law, mom, stepdad, and grandparents (along with their dog) over.  It was the first time my family has seen our house!  There was a lot of cooking, a lot of eating, a lot of black friday shopping, and a lot of football.  There was a Skype visit from my Uncle, Aunt, and cousins also.  Everyone except the sis in law packed up and headed home this morning.  Here are just a few shots.

When we first moved in together, much of our furniture was (and still is) comprised of hand me downs.  As I suspect most 20 somethings furniture collection is.  Our couch for instance.  Our couch was my Great Grandmothers (Mama C).  It was big and comfy and…..white.  The thing wasn’t exactly our style but it was a nice couch and free.  So we took it.  After the couch came this little fur nugget.

And we oohed and ahhhhed and awwww how cuted.  He was so tiny it didn’t seem like a big deal at the time to pick him up and put him on the couch with us so he could take his little puppy naps.  He was even too small to hop up himself.  But then he grew.

He needed chew toys.  He thought the couch was his bed/play area.  So that white couch turned kind of dingy, kind of worn.

So if you haven’t guessed yet – our latest house purchase was a NEW COUCH!  I’m excited.  We chose a contemporary dark grey cordy number.  Klaus has been doing surprisingly well with the stay off of the new couch training.  After the first few initial “NO!” and “LEAVE IT!” s he just left it alone.

Now for some bright pillows!  I really dig these AphroChic pillows.  I love all of her pillows actually, and their fall line comes out Monday.  I hope these three gems are still there because I would like to eventually purchase them.
