Is this me?

I was browsing another blog and they have their contributers put together a little inspiration board to visually describe themselves.  Most of us have some space online where we save things that catch out eye – be it pinterest, tumblr, our own blog, a special folder on your desktop – or all of the above!!  All of these little pieces that you have saved up because they caught your eye….in some way says something about you and your personality.  I find this idea intriguing so I decided to quickly scroll through my saved images and pull up the first ones that really stick out.

So what does this say about me?

Packaging.

For me, sometimes the focus isn’t on the product but instead on the packaging/branding.  Here are a few branding/product pieces that have caught my eye.

I hope these pretties are pleasing to your eye also.

I posted before that I have always been a big soundtrack person, which probably stems from the fact that I am a big movie person.  You know how some ppl leave daytime television on all day?  I play movies and if they are on DVD I then play the movie with the commentary on, then I play all of the special features.

Well, I have found in my late 20′s that I am really a fan of Nancy Meyers.  I have gotten to the point that I can turn a movie on and know that its Nancy Meyers just by the styling, the look, the music, the subject matter.  I turned on the remake of The Parent Trap this morning, it had already started, and one of the twins was about to pierce the others ears at summer camp.  After a few minutes I said to myself “Why does this sound seem like a Nancy Meyers film?”  Not thinking she would do a children’s film.  IMDBd it and sure enough – Nancy Meyers.

The story lines are more the lighthearted romantic which isnt usually my main dig.  But for some reason I like hers.  Her set design is impeccable and unmistakably her.  The film scores are light and I could just let them play all day.

It’s Complicated- here are some images of her set designs from It’s Complicated.

New Look.

Every once and again, every 20 something needs a makeover.  Well, as you can see The 20 Something Society got one!  I really only meant to have the old look short term, until I found something ‘me’.  But then I never changed it…..lazy I guess.  I decided to get on it this week and find a nice minimal layout.  I hope you guys find it more pleasing to the eye.

I’ve been dresser hunting on and off for a while now.  We aren’t in desperate need.  I mean we have dressers that hold a our clothing.  We’re just looking for something that better fits our style and needs.  I stumbled upon this one in a thrift store this week.

We like the mid century modern type shapes.  So this one stuck out!  I sent this pic out to Todd and he said he ‘didn’t like the little drawers on the side’.  I had to admit though I thought the dresser was pretty, he was right.  The tiny drawers on the side would leave us wanting for more room.  I’m still keeping my eyes peeled-mostly checking craigslist every five minutes and popping into my favorite thrift/consignment/antique stores to look around.  My dream is to find a nice and decently priced campaign dresser.  We found a drop dead gorgeous one on our last trip to Mobile…but we were in Mobile…we didn’t have room for it and our luggage and Klaus for the 5 hour car ride home.  It looked very much like this and I am still very sad that we couldn’t get it.

Packaging.

Being a photographer, I do a bit of design work. Not to say that I am a graphic designer, that I am not. Anyway. Packaging and branding choices often catch my eye, these are things that I love looking at, and am very interested in. When I saw this packaging from Restoration Hardware I loved it immediately. Simple and modern and GREY.

I’ve found that I have a slight obsession with arrows.  You can count on some showing up in the guest room.  It may not be with only arrows – this obsession is probably more like tidbits from camp.  Here are a few arrow themed selections for you guys.

This bedding from anthropologie is ALMOST perfect for the guest room.

Work Nerd.

My life has not been very blog-worthy lately.  Just SUPER busy with work.  BUT…..

They look great for baby announcements too.  I think I’ll add this to my site (http://www.jacquelynjackson.com) as an option for my clients!

Xmas Decor

I’m not big with holiday decorations.  In fact not including decorating the tree we have hardly any decorations.

I stumbled across these typography blocks on Etsy though and promptly added them to my Xmas list.
