The 20 Something Society

We're going to make it after all.

I have to say – I am not a person that is way into politics or even stays 100% up to date with things.  I definitely have my views on things – but find it frustrating to emerse myself in all of it all of the time as some people do.  There is so much negativity and I am a pretty mellow la-dee-da type of person.  I don’t like to add unnecessary stress to my life.  One thing that I do believe is that, as an American, whether you agree with your president all of the time or not, you should show them at least a tiny bit of respect.  You should not root for them to fail.  You should want your leader to be successful right?  Sure let it be known that you don’t agree, by all means.  But why be blatantly disrespectful?

I am also the type of person who believes that everything you say or do has an effect on something or someone and that you are responsible for that.  If you put some false idiotic statement on your facebook status, people are going to read that and take it as fact and talk about it and pass it on and this whole cloud of negativity over someone is created – by you.

But who are we?  In the grand scheme of things we aren’t much as individuals.  Who cares what our facebook status says right?  Well what about major news sources.  Like the FOX Nation.  I do not watch FOX news.  They do all of these things that I mentioned.  All of these little, unnecessary, negative things that I find toxic on a small level like facebook is all that I see on FOX news except blown up a million fold.  I see them trying to create fear, hate, and anger.

This was the headline page on the FOX news website recently.

I find this to be just obviously racist and offensive and cannot believe that they get away with things like this on a regular basis.  FOX Nation picked out the African American people who attended and left out all of the white folk to stir up fear and hate amongst their racist viewers.

One would hope that most people know that FOX tends to ignore facts that everyone knows anyway so what does it matter.  But, I know that there are some people who ONLY Watch FOX news and take what they say as 100% fact.  (like my grandfather who once told me that all news is false, except FOX news which is the  only balanced news that gives all 100% truths and NEVER exploits/exaggerates.  And he said this in all seriousness, he really believes this which leads me to believe he is delusional in his old age.)

That is all.  I obviously just saw this and needed to rant a little.  Thanks for listening – whether you agree or not.  And before anyone gets on here saying blah blah blah all news is false.  I am fully aware that all news leaves things out and bends the stories to fit their agenda.  But never have I seen so much omitted information, false information, and exaggerated information from one source.

Surfing blogland today, Bryn posted a really perfect farmhouse.  I don’t like how the house is decorated, I wouldnt keep it so historical – but I want this house and land.  Plenty of photoshoot spaces!

I made this first image today.  Decided to do a pretty things roundup for you guys.

Lady List

Kat posted a list of 10 pieces of clothing every lady should have – and it really resonated with me.  I used to be all about quantity over quality – but as of late I’ve been in the quality of quantity headspace.  I guess it comes with age.  I’m not so interested in buying a lot of cheap trendy pieces – I’d rather have classic high quality pieces that will last.  But sometimes its still hard to think about spending two and three hundred dollars on one piece.  I found pieces to put on my wishlist so I can have the ten pieces of clothing every lady should have.

1. A Trench

I’ve been gazing at this JCrew one for awhile.  Its beautiful – its also one of those three hundred dollar pieces I was talking about before.

There is a more affordable version at American Eagle.  I don’t tend to shop “juniors” but this one looks nice and is a lot cheaper at $70.  Of course you pay for what you get so the JCrew trench will surely last a LOT longer.  And is prettier.

2. Knee High Boots.

I already have these!  Borns – a xmas present from the hubby a couple of years ago.  These are them -except mine are brown.

3. Basic Black Dress.

Believe it or not I do not have this.  WHAAAA?!

Here is one from Target – everyones favorite place. $40.  Very Hepburn.

and this one from JCrew.  yet another $300

Also -$80 Ann Taylor Loft Shift Dress I think this one is actually my fave go look!

4. Heels.

Of course I have heels, but I prefer platform wedges.  If i get heels its best for me to get kitten or stacked.  But I need an update.  I have one pair of white – the ones I wore with my wedding dress.  The pair of leopard print you guys saw a few posts back.  one pair of black that I dont like anymore but have kept in case I NEED a pair.  I need a pair of black and a pair of brown that I will actually wear to make a basic wardrobe.

Here is a nice kitten metallic from BCBG

Brown stacked from Gianni Bini.

Seychelle Password Pumps

5. Loafers
Frye

6. Blazer

I have a navy pinstripe JCrew outlet Blazer as of right now.

7. Oxford Button Up.

I have these – I love to wear collard shirts so these are a fave of mine.

8. Boots.

I like these Born boots – a little embellishment a little built in worn – ness.

Or these black suede MIA

9. Lacey Underthings.

Black from American Apparel

Black from UO

Floral and black undies from Asos

10. Pencil Skirt.

JCREW!  Pencil skirt in nightfall blue.

Well, folks, thats the lady list!

When I stumbled across this image over on Fashion Chalet, it fit perfectly in with my life right now.  I have been feeling very overwhelmed…yet excited about my blooming photography business.  People have been having more interest in me, and that is exciting!  But I’ve been SO busy.  I’m not yet comfortable enough to leave my “day job”, so working there full time and doing what I love full time has kept me working through all of my waking hours.  But I can’t help but know deep inside that this will all pay off one day.  Hopefully one day very very soon.  I am about to start another venture starting August….a pretty exciting one, that involves the words freelance and photography.  But that’ll be a post for another day.

I was looking at a blog post on Inspired By This about cakes…and this cake stopped me in my tracks.  Its different from anything I’ve seen before.  And square cakes are my favorite.  The kind of ombre icing coloring is genius too.
